“That the purity of the message, the simplicity and the power of that message when there was just 25 people in my living room or when Hugh (Evans) was sleeping on my couch when he’d come and visit in Sydney, it’s the same message now still at the heart of this movement. It’s practical. It is – it’s got a good heart, and it makes it easy for people – no matter who you are, no matter how old you are, no matter how much money you’ve got – to make a difference because of the power and the size of this movement. And now, let us not forget that the UN is meeting this week. And so they’re all been here. All the world leaders are here. And they’re noticing, they’re noticing what the global citizen is doing. There are millions and millions of people demanding things from leaders. And I think – I think it’s so exciting and I think it’s necessary and I’m just proud to be part of it.”

It’s sharing messages and all of these things, you know, bringing in the music and the famous rock stars and so on that attracts the people. And then when you contacted a whole lot of people and they’re all in a good mood, they’re receptive to messages and, you know, they can hopefully understand that this kind of thing will not continue unless we protect nature. Because we are part of nature. We depend on nature.”

“There’s some amazing music, amazing entertainers, but there’s also there’s an underlying cause that’s important to talk about, and that is the ending extreme poverty. Inequality on a global scale and also national scale is growing. And it’s a massive problem because it kind of blocks a lot of the other massive transitions that we need when it comes to climate action, when it comes to, I mean, all the issues. And then I also think it’s important to talk about the fact that there is reason for hope that we that we can do something, that it’s not hopeless. And sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the doomsday scenarios. And I think, it might be great for clickbait and all that, but it’s not real. Like humans are not that stupid. We can make a difference and we are making a difference.”
