"There is about seven different ways the Secret Service could have secured that building. A ten-year-old looking at that satellite image could have seen that the greatest threat posed to the president that day outside the security perimeter was the AGR building and that roof. And a 20-year-old with a week’s notice figured it out and outsmarted and outmaneuvered the entire U.S. Secret Service. And that is a shame. And it’s a stain on their agency. And the best way to prevent this from happening is you don’t react to them, you prevent them in the first place."

Aside from what those specific duties would be, The counter-assault team leader was very good at making sure we knew what was expected. The counter-sniper walked through with us into the planning meeting so they knew where we would be. They knew what our plan was."

"I did share my concerns with the agents, from my understanding that were in charge of the site that day. I explained to them that the snipers inside that building were overwatching the venue itself and that the whole area, specifically the whole area coming leaning up from the water tower. We had no vantage point from. We could see part of the building that was that Crooks was on. But we had no access in it or line of sight, I should say, to that area. And I asked the the Secret Service members that we do not have the additional manpower to post anybody there. And I requested additional people to be posted there so there would be no access to those grounds."

"And what response did you get?"

"That they would take care of it"

"They would take care of it? (Blasko: "Yes.") And did you think that meant they would put it within their secured perimeter?"

"Whether they put it within their security perimeter or they posted bodies, actual people there? That was my expectation of what was going to happen."
