STORYLINE:
Oyster farmers in Florida are pulling in their catch and preparing for Hurricane Helene as the rough weather approaches.
Danny Reams, an aquacultural farmer with South Forty Oyster Company, just finished his last pick up of oysters out of Oyster Bay in the Spring Creek community of Crawfordville, Florida.
He’s been through a a number of storms and knows what they can do to a rich oyster landscape like this one. “Most of the time we end up losing cages, oysters, everything we’ve worked for. Pretty devastating.”
