Why are Indian guards shooting Bangladeshis crossing the border? | DW News

India and Bangladesh are close allies, but one human rights group claims Indian border forces have killed hundreds of Bangladeshis along the border. Smuggling in both directions is a major problem, and Indian patrols say they only use force when under attack.
But the recent deaths of two Bangladeshi children has brought renewed attention to an under-reported problem. DW has been meeting border patrols and residents in the north western Bangladeshi region of Thakurgaon.
