"It (messages of threats of war widening) doesn’t make a difference for us, because in 2006 they sent a lot (of planes) and did so much. We would like to tell the enemy, and specifically to the criminal Netanyahu, the butcher who doesn’t fear God, he crossed all the red lines. It’s not worse than the massacres he committed in Gaza, south of Lebanon and now in Dahiyeh (Beirut southern suburb). So he can do whatever he wants. The dog that barks doesn’t bite. He can do what he wants. They are sending messages and making calls. While the resistance exists, we won’t be afraid of them."

STORYLINE:
Several people in central Beirut said on Monday that they were not afraid after Israel called on thousands in Lebanon to evacuate as it carried out the deadliest and most intense barrage of airstrikes in the country since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war.
Israeli strikes on Monday killed more than 180 people and wounded more than 400 other people.
Thousands of Lebanese fled the south, and the main highway out of the southern port city of Sidon was jammed with cars heading toward Beirut in the biggest exodus since the 2006 fighting.
The Israeli military warned residents in southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate their homes ahead of a widening air campaign against Hezbollah.
"They can threaten as much as they want. If we are to get scared, we would have been afraid in 2006," said Mohammad Alsoussi, a Lebanese citizen.
The Israeli military announced that it hit some 300 targets Monday, saying it was going after Hezbollah weapons sites.
Some strikes hit in residential areas of towns in the south and the eastern Bekaa Valley.
One strike hit a wooded area as far away as Byblos in central Lebanon, more than 80 miles from the border north of Beirut.
The military said it was expanding the airstrikes to include areas of the Bekaa Valley, along Lebanon’s eastern border.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah said in a statement that it fired dozens of rockets at an Israeli military post in Galilee.
It also targeted for a second day the facilities of the Rafael defense firm, headquartered in Haifa.
The calls to evacuate homes was the first warning of its kind in nearly a year of steadily escalating conflict and came after a particularly heavy exchange of fire on Sunday.
