STORYLINE:
Thousands of Yemenis have been celebrating the tenth anniversary of the uprising that toppled former president Ali Abdullah Saleh when the Houthis took control of the capital, Sanaa.

Military processions were held in Sanaa to mark the anniversary and also in support of Palestinians in Gaza.

Participants waved Palestinian flags and held Qurans and weaponry.

Deputy of the Capital Secretariat, Khaled Al-Madani said thousands of people had enlisted "to be ready to participate against our Israeli enemy when the opportunity arises."

The Houthi takeover in Yemen was a popular revolution against President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi led by the Houthis and their supporters that pushed the government from power.

The Houthis, an Iran-aligned group, emerged in northern Yemen in the 1990s.
