STORYLINE:
Lebanon’s caretaker Health Minister Firas Abiad said on Thursday that at least 25 people were killed and more than 600 were wounded during a second day of attacks on Wednesday involving detonating devices that were blamed on Israel.

"We had a total of 608. Of those, 360 did not need to be admitted to the hospital, while 178 were admitted in stable condition. Currently, 61 are in the intensive care unit, and 141 surgeries have been done so far at the two hospitals," Health Minister Firas Abiad said.

Both attacks are widely believed to have been carried out by Israel against Hezbollah.

They have heightened fears that the simmering conflict between the two sides could escalate into all-out war.

This week’s explosions have also deepened concerns about the scope of potentially-compromised devices, particularly after such bombings have killed or injured so many civilians.
