"We as paediatricians obviously were really aware that through COVID, because of the difficulty in accessing health care, we knew that there was going to be a decline in vaccination. And it has been there. And so, a lot of the children that were meant to have their boosters around the time of COVID, then those are the patients that are now presenting with measles or pertussis. Because it’s not just measles that we’re seeing an increase of it’s also pertussis. And so, there’s a mixed picture as to why this is happening. And it is very concerning."

"The really good thing about MMR is that actually just by having one vaccine, just the one, you already have at least 95% protection, which is not true for a lot of vaccines the other vaccines that we have. So, MMR actually really provides a really significant protection just for having one. By having your second booster. So, you second MMR vaccine, you increase that to 99%. So, it is a really good vaccine. Even just one dose, that already gives you a significant amount of protection. We always recommend to having to booster, but even if it’s just the one, you already know that within a few, couple of weeks, you know that you’re already protected."

"I don’t think the call is being heard. I don’t think the call is being loud enough for parents to really take action enough or to know what to do. It’s just been there grumbling, yes, there’s some measles around but I don’t think the information has been widely spread enough for it to reach all the key demographics, all those families that are really not sure what to do."
