STORYLINE:
Big crowds gathered to watch a traditional festival in Hong Kong Monday night, commemorating the fire dragon, a memory of a past plague.
The dragon is made out of meters of straw, with incense sticks packed into it, and it’s carried by dozens of people who live in the Tai Hang district of Hong Kong island.
Back in the 1990s, the area used to be an affordable district full of car repair shops and earthy eateries.
The area has went through a transformation over the years but it remain one of the places in Hong Kong with a thriving a local community and retains a strong sense of tradition, like this elaborate fire dragon dance ritual.
