STORYLINE:
Smoke was seen rising in central Israel on early Sunday.
The Israeli military said a long-range missile fired from Yemen landed in an open area in central Israel early on Sunday,.
It was not clear if the smoke seen rising near the central town of Modiin was from the incoming missile or the interceptors.
The early morning attack triggered air raid sirens, including at Israel’s international airport, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The military said the sound of explosions in the area came from interceptors.
Magen David Adom Emergency service said in a statement that following sirens in central Israel, they were "treating and evacuating five males and females in mild condition after they were injured on their way to shelters".
