“I love putting on a good boot. I miss – I’m ready to be out of – and a trench coat. That’s exactly – we were talking about that yesterday. We were shopping for trench coats because it was raining. So a trench coat and a boot, I’m good to go.”

(Reporter: “What is like your favorite go-to fall item that you’re psyched to, like, get back to?”)
“Trench coat, trench coat. Big trench addiction. I’m definitely looking for some, like, leather because it’s colder in New York. It’s sort of, we go from, like, humidity to freezing. So like today was even too cold for my trench coat, so leather.”
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Lainey Wilson, recording artist:
“Everything in my closet right now I have been itching to wear because I feel like all of my clothes have this like, fall color scheme to them. And I’ll be trying to wear fall clothes in the summer. They’re like, you can’t do that, Lainey. Fall is my favorite time to dress. I just like the layers. I like the scarves. I like the button up shirts with the blazers, you name it.”

“My go-to fall item? It’s always boots. Isn’t it always boots? Boots are like, you cannot wear them in the summer. So and fall you bring them out. Knee-high, ankle-high, thigh-high. It’s all about the boot.”

“I’m totally obsessed with my white pumps, and I’ve been wearing them with my black stockings or other gray stockings, and I kind of love them with anything. It’s sort of an interesting way to pull yourself into the season but hold on to summer a little bit.”

So, you know, and our office, quite frankly, it’s too cold. So yesterday I was wearing a coat inside, which that works for me. I think we miss our great outerwear. And if you live in a city, a great jacket or a great coat, it’s kind of your calling card. It makes you feel, you know, dressed and ready to hit the world.”

STORYLINE:
There’s a crispness to the air in New York so celebs at New York Fashion Week – including Chloe Fineman, Kerry Washington and Lainey Wilson – discussed their go-to items for fall.
There were a few items that many agreed on.
Fineman and Michelle Monaghan said they were both looking forward to putting on a trench coat as the seasons change and the city gets colder.
Kerry Washington said she’s looking forward to donning many different varieties of boots:
"My go-to fall item? It’s always boots. Isn’t it always boots? Boots are like, you cannot wear them in the summer. So and fall you bring them out. Knee-high, ankle-high, thigh-high. It’s all about the boot," she smiled.
New York Fashion week runs till Thursday.
