STORYLINE:
Pope Francis left Papua New Guinea on Monday bound for East Timor in the latest leg of his historic tour of southeast Asia.
The Pope bid farewell to the country’s prime minister, James Marape, and top clergymen in a ceremony on the airport tarmac in Port Moresby.
The grueling travel schedule for the 87-year-old Argentine will see him visit all of Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, East Timor and Singapore over 12 days.
The Port Moresby ceremony came a day after the Pope traveled to the remote jungles of Papua New Guinea to celebrate the Catholic Church on the peripheries, bringing with him medicine, musical instruments and a message of love for the people who live there.
