STORYLINE:
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Friday during a two-day trip to Seoul that comes less than a month before he leaves office.

Yoon, in his opening remarks, reaffirmed the commitment to build on the "positive momentum" both leaders have built to advance trilateral cooperation between South Korea, Japan, and the U,S.

Kishida responded by emphasising the importance of close cooperation between the two countries for peace and stability in the region.

The trip was arranged after he expressed hope for a meeting with Yoon to end his term on a high note in bilateral relations, according to Yoon’s office.
