"Since that movie, I discovered that nothing was real and that it was all a fabrication and that, I was like, oh, you know, now I started to, you know, sort of hang out with. I’ve been working with a lot of, like, coders and engineers, and we’re starting to, like, notice, like certain, certain things, certain glitches."
Moderator: "In the Matrix?"
Korine: "Glitches, like glitches in the Matrix and kind of, and I was starting to understand that actually, like, you know it’s all fake, it’s all designed. And then that freed me up as an artist and we were kind of like, ‘let’s do something that feels like it has a real world creation, a sense of like, of kind of limitlessness.’"

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Harmony Korine, director:
"I think the next step is going to just be – we’ll be able to dream the movies. I think we’ll just at some point – we’re just working on technology now in the rooms where you’ll just be able, will be able to actually just go from thought to image, not even text to image or image to image will be able to work on just basically dreaming movies."

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Harmony Korine, director:
"The concept really comes from like the moment this idea that people will, in the future or even now, start to live stream their crimes. And this, this is now entertainment in a lot of ways, for people. And so and it’s a form of cloud and then it’s also there’s elements of kind of, you know, with babies and, and birth and a kind of there’s like a also a spiritual element to kind of the rage."

9. SOUNDBITE (English) Harmony Korine, director:
"Hollywood needs to – and they don’t need to, but they would be smart to encourage the youth, the kids. And because what’s happening in Hollywood and you starting to see Hollywood crumble, I think, creatively is that they’re losing a lot of the most talented and creative minds to gaming and to streamers like IShowSpeed is a movie. Kai Cenat is a movie. But really, they’re so locked in on convention and then all those kids that are so creative are now just going to find other outlets and go other places, because movies are no longer the dominant art form."

STORYLINE:
Filmmaker Harmony Korine said Hollywood should be paying attention to the young creators.
"They would be smart to encourage the youth, the kids. And because what’s happening in Hollywood and you starting to see Hollywood crumble, I think, creatively is that they’re losing a lot of the most talented and creative minds to gaming and to streamers," he said.
"They’re so locked in on convention and then all those kids that are so creative are now just going to find other outlets and go other places, because movies are no longer the dominant art form."
The director spoke and smoked during a press conference in Venice Saturday for his latest film, "Baby Invasion" a horror thriller as an ultra-realistic, multiplayer first person shooter game following a group of mercenaries using baby faces as avatars to conceal their identity.
Korine said it’s a continuation of his previous work and it was inspired by the fact he realized nothing is real.
"I started to, you know, sort of hang out with. I’ve been working with a lot of, like, coders and engineers, and we’re starting to, like, notice, like certain, certain things, certain glitches," he said.
