STORYLINE:
Una multitudinaria procesión llegó el viernes a la Basílica y Santuario de Santa Rosa de Lima, patrona de América y las Filipinas, para depositar pedidos especiales en un pozo de los deseos, tradición a la que se atribuyen innumerables milagros.
En la mañana se cumplió la tradicional misa en la Catedral de Lima como parte de las actividades conmemorativas del fallecimiento de la santa peruana y la primera mujer canonizada en las Américas en 1671 por el papa Clemente X.
Santa Rosa, cuyo verdadero nombre fue Isabel Flores Oliva, ya era popular en vida y en la actualidad decenas de pueblos en la costa, los Andes y la Amazonía llevan su nombre. Tras morir a los 31 años, varios de sus hagiógrafos describieron sus funerales como multitudinarios. Incluso las fuerzas de seguridad de la época tuvieron que apartar a los fieles que deseaban arrancar un trozo de ropa de la difunta para conservarlo como reliquia.
Santa Rosa de Lima también es patrona de los enfermos de tuberculosis.
