1. SOUNDBITE (English) Erika Eleniak, Billy Warlock and Alexandra Paul, actors:
Eleniak: "I think it would be more inclusive, body type inclusive today, which I think would be great. Yeah. I mean, there’s an aspect of being a lifeguard where fitness is huge, obviously, but fitness and body type are two completely different things. So I think that it would probably be very much more body inclusive, body type inclusive."
Paul: "I mean, we would need to wear bathing suits because we are on the beach, and I always found it especially irritating when people sort of thought we shouldn’t be exposing our bodies because we were lifeguards that we were wearing bathing suits. Right. I think it would be not only diverse in body type, it would be diverse in race. Unfortunately, there were very few people of color on the show, throughout its 12-year iteration. Really, really something that would never be accepted today. And also sexuality. There would also be a mix. Everyone wouldn’t just be these boring white heteros that we were back then."
