STORYLINE:
With a record number of participants, the Tango BA World Dance Championship begins to define its finalists, with both amateurs and professionals showcasing their talent in the Tango de Pista and Tango Escenario categories.

Over 750 couples from 53 countries took part in the qualifying rounds, and the semi-finals welcomed the winning couples from local championships held in cities across Argentina and around the world, who earned direct entry into the advanced stages of this global event.

The grand finale of the world dance championship will take place on August 27th at the Movistar Arena indoor stadium, where thousands of fans of this traditional dance will enjoy performances by the world’s best dancers.

Tango, celebrated for its unique richness as a UNESCO World Heritage, is a traditional dance from South America, with Argentina and Uruguay being most recognized as it’s main adopters.

Since the last century, the popularity of this dance has reached other continents, with people dancing and enjoying tango music in distant countries like Russia and Japan.

The Tango BA Festival and World Championship display a nostalgic side of Buenos Aires’ music, dance, and poetry, spreading across the city’s top venues, along with other traditional tango spaces in various neighbourhoods, such as dance halls, notable bars, tango houses, museums, and academies.
