The Boney Island Treehouse was once part of a Halloween attraction that drew so many visitors to this California street, the city shut it down in 2017. Owner Rick Polizzi stopped the haunted house, but kept the three-story treehouse. Polizzi says he has spent $40,000 over the last seven years working with city inspectors to modify the treehouse. Because he has not torn down the 24-year-old structure, the city has filed a criminal complaint against him for non-compliance.
