"They’re still there. And now there’s 109 hostages that are still in Gaza, including Itay, my cousin. This morning, we got horrible announcements that they brought back six bodies of hostages. Five of them, the families already knew that they were dead, murdered, killed and one the family only today got the message. All six were taken alive from their houses in Nir Oz and Nirim and should have been back alive and there is no relief in their return as bodies."

STORYLINE:
Families of hostages held in Gaza and their supporters protested in front of the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv on Tuesday to demand an immediate cease-fire deal that would return their loved ones home.

The protest came after Israel’s military said it recovered the bodies of six hostages taken in Hamas’ October 7 attack that triggered the war, bringing fresh grief for many Israelis who have long pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a cease-fire that would bring the remaining hostages home.

The recovery came as the United States, Egypt and Qatar were trying to mediate a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas that would see the release of scores of hostages held by the militant group.

Hamas is still believed to be holding around 110 hostages captured in the October 7 attack.

Israeli authorities estimate around a third of them are dead.
