STORYLINE:
A day of mourning was observed in Pakistan on Friday to pay tribute to Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh who was assassinated in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Wednesday.
Protests and absentia prayer readings were held in various parts of the country including the capital Islamabad where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other ministers participated in the comemoration.
Dozens of Jamiat Ulema Islam party supporters protested in front of Karachi press club, chanting “friend of Israel is a traitor“ and “friend of America is a traitor“ and saying absentia prayers.
Mulana Muhammad Ayaz, a local leader of the group said the organisation’s key demand is that "American aggression against Muslims and against humanity be stopped".
