USA THE LAST APOLLO
The return of Apollo 17 to earth, with its three astronauts, Eugene Cernan, Harrison Schmitt and
Ronald Evans, marks the end of an era in America’s manned moon landings. During the past 12 years the Apollo programme has cost 24 billion dollars and enabled 12 men to walk on the moon. No further manned moon landings are planned this century. Instead, the space agency NASA will concentrate on Skylab and Space Shuttle.
