STORYLINE:
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong met with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul on Tuesday during a visit to Seoul.

The pair held talks where Wong condemned North Korea for carrying out what she described as "reckless conduct which endangers and threatens the security" of countries in the region.

Wong also reaffirmed Australia’s support in South Korea’s commitment to peace on the Korean peninsula.

"Let me be very clear, we understand very clearly, that the peace and stability on the peninsula is a matter of great and direct concern to ROK (Republic of Korea)," Wong said.

The meeting between the two ministers, was held hours after Wong’s visit to Panmunjom.

After the visit, Wong denounced a recently signed security pact between Russia and North Korea, describing it as "risky for the world."

Wong is visiting South Korea to meet with senior officials, following her trips to Laos for ASEAN foreign ministerial meetings and Japan for a QUAD foreign ministers’ meeting with her Japanese, Indian and U.S. counterparts.
