STORYLINE:
All over the Paris Olympics, it was a stream of memorable moments. On water, and on land. On all kinds of fields.
Novak Djokovic beat Rafael Nadal in perhaps the final meeting of the longtime tennis rivals, and Japan surged past China to win gold in the men’s gymnastics competition.
Olga Kharlan has won Ukraine’s first medal of the Paris Olympics to give a country at war something to celebrate.
The U.S. women’s rugby sevens team has reached the Olympic sevens semifinals for the first time and will take on defending champion New Zealand for a spot in the gold-medal match.
And with the ceremonial blow of a conch shell and blare of the judges horn, the third day of the Paris Olympics surfing competition in Tahiti began on Monday, with the men’s surfers going head-to-head, some reaching the end of the road on their quest for gold.
