1. SOUNDBITE (English) DJ Provai and Moglai Bap, actors/recording artists:
Bap: "I feel like it was just like, we were organizing festivals, contemporary Irish language festivals in Belfast and there was a small gang of us, all of our friends would speak Irish in Belfast, and it is quite a new thing, the language in the city of Belfast. Obviously in rural parts of Ireland they’ve spoken Irish for thousands of years, but in the city it is quite a new thing and we were all organizing festivals and partying and I think it was out of that need to represent that identity of this new wave of young Irish speakers in the city that Kneecap was born. And we wanted to platform that on the internet, our music on a wider scale, so people can understand that the language does exist in the city. And also in America I think maybe some people think the Irish language is just the English language with a funny accent but I promise it is a real language."
Provai: "People just think ‘Oh they’re speaking English with a spud stuck in their throat or something,’
Bap: "Top of the morning to you."
Provai: "top of the morning."
