Venezuela’s government-controlled electoral council has declared the incumbent President Nicolas Maduro the winner of Sunday’s presidential election. The electoral council announced that Maduro won with 51 percent of the vote. The country’s opposition coalition, however, disputes the result and says the count was manipulated by loyalists close to the president. Nicolas Maduro has been in power since taking over from Hugo Chavez in 2013.
