STORYLINE:
San Francisco International Airport slowly got back to normal operations Friday afternoon after a worldwide tech outage brought it to a standstill early Friday morning.
Nearly 100 flights at SFO were canceled Friday with another 200 flights delayed, according to an airport spokesperson.
A majority of those affected in San Francisco were United Airlines flights.
By noon, flights were mostly back on schedule.
Some informational monitors at SFO displayed the “blue screens of death” seen at computer terminals across the world.
SFO’s baggage claim area overflowed with unclaimed bags,.
The outage has been blamed on a faulty overnight software update from CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company.
