“Very emotional, very emotional. My daughter texted me and asked me ‘are you crying?’ and I almost was, but I think it shows the strength of him as our president. I think he probably knew in his heart that a lot of people wanted to see him here. I don’t recall a president or a candidate or president coming the first night of the convention ever. So I believe it’s very historic in that to see him standing there with JD Vance, I think it hopefully gives hope to people that he is the right person to do the job for America.”

“I’m very excited for JD Vance (as Trump’s VP pick). I am also a graduate of the Ohio State University, so it’s great to have another Buckeye, but I think it sends a signal to our younger voters that we care about you. And that we’re a diverse party that we welcome all ages, everyone, and he brings a new message and we’re excited to hear from him. I’m appreciative of his military background. I think having a vice president that has a military background is a huge asset to our country, because we don’t know what’s going on in the world, and I’m sure he’s had experiences of his life, but none of us have. So I think it’s, it’s a good sign.”

STORYLINE:
Donald Trump entered the Republican convention hall on Monday evening with a gauze covering his right ear after an attempted assassination attempt.
The attempted assassination is hanging over Milwaukee as the Republican National Convention brings a tide of red shirts and law enforcement to the Wisconsin city.
Supporters cheered for his arrival at the convention hall who formally elected Trump as their 2024 presidential nominee Monday.
Trump also announced on social media that he has selected Ohio Sen J.D. Vance as his running mate for the campaign.
Jan Weber, a Republican delegate from Illinois, said picking Vance "sends a signal to our younger voters that we care about you."
