"This is Julie Carr Smyth in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where Donald Trump’s rally has just been evacuated after shots rang out from the crowd and the president dropped on the stage and was surrounded by the Secret Service. And two people in the crowd apparently were injured. They were in the grandstands to the left of the podium where he was speaking. He is okay, has been walked, has been whisked off the stage, and the entire grounds have been evacuated at this point and they have been declared an active crime scene by the Secret Service."

STORYLINE:
Donald Trump’s campaign said in a statement that the former president was “fine” after a shooting at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
A local prosecutor says the suspected gunman and at least one attendee are dead.
“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” spokesman Steven Cheung says in a statement. “He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”
The Secret Service said in a statement that “the former President is safe.”
Butler County district attorney Richard Goldinger said in a phone interview that the suspected gunman was dead as was at least one rally attendee.
