"We are stuck, families are all scattered all over the world and we are tired of that happening. We were used to being a united people, a people of solidarity, a people that wherever we saw someone who was feeling bad, we would lend a hand and now we are all scattered. Maria Corina (Machado) has truly brought hope and a light at the end of the tunnel that is so dark, and with the favor of God and the Virgin of Coromoto, we are going to achieve it."

STORYLINE:
Thousands of supporters of Venezuela’s main opposition coalition descended on the city of Valencia on Saturday to attend a campaign rally for presidential candidate Edmundo González and leader María Corina Machado.
Venezuela’s government led by President Nicolas Maduro faces its toughest electoral test in decades in the upcoming July 28 presidential election.
For years, opposition politicians boycotted elections they saw as rigged, but as the government’s popularity has ebbed, former rivals have banded together in an attempt to change the government at the ballot box.
Millions of opposition supporters across Venezuela are hopeful again, with the possibility of ending the Socialist Party’s 25-year rule.
56-year-old Alfredo Martinez’s son left the country six months ago, joining millions of other Venezuelan migrants. He said he passed through roadblocks and other obstacles to get to the rally.
"You can’t cover the sun with a finger. Here are the people and they are fully supporting Edmundo González and María Corina, they are the leaders of this country,," he said.
44-year-old María Gabriela Abreu has gone 12 years without seeing her children and hasn’t met her grandchildren.
