Vance gives his first speech as Trump’s VP nominee. Vance comes from humble beginnings, yet gained success with the publication of his book "Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis", which recounts his upbringing in Kentucky and his family’s adherence to Appalachian values. Ischinger addresses concerns that J.D. Vance will pursue an extreme position on various policy issues, given the incendiary and isolationist statements he has made throughout his career.
