1. SOUNDBITE (English) Stephanie Bowers, resident of Oakland, California:
"I think it’s a little late for him to step down at this point. I was very surprised when I saw the debate. I didn’t realize the condition he was in or how he appeared. Now I know he’s saying that he just had a bad week when he was overseas and he didn’t get enough rest. I don’t know if I believe that, but with me being a Democrat, I’m still going to vote Democratic and not go with, Trump. I once again, I think it’s a little late for him to step down because if he steps down, Kamala would take over, which I would love. But I also think with the world being the way it is, all the prejudice going on, that Trump would probably beat Kamala more so than beating, Biden."

2. SOUNDBITE (English) Tony Klagge, Minneapolis resident:
"I voted Biden in 2020 I think it’s not changes so much to me it seems as though he’s not the candidate that he used to be, and I’m not sure that he’s independently able to make the decisions they need to be able to make running the country. That’s all."

3. SOUNDBITE (English) Ellis Johnston, Minneapolis, registered Democrat:
"I am feeling panicked. Certainly. Like laying in my bed at night, like, overcome with fear. I do not think that Joe Biden is the best person to be running in this election. I don’t know who that person is. But I don’t feel confident in joe Biden’s ability to win this election, and that makes me very afraid."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Fatu Manovah, resident of Ramsey, Minnesota
"I wanna see someone else, younger. Have more like, speak more from the heart, you know what I’m saying, you know, just for the people, not just for the party. Someone who’s like for the people who listen to the people and not just there because of the party, you know what I’m saying? So, yeah."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Daniles Santiago, Minneapolis resident:
"I’m on the fence. And I don’t think (Kamala) Harris would be a better candidate. I mean… But if they’re going to do it, they better move fast. So, I gotta say."
STORYLINE:
US President Joe Biden’s occasional struggles with focus may not be unusual for someone his age. But at 81 years old and seeking another four years in the White House, the moments when he’s off his game have taken on a fresh resonance following his disastrous debate performance against Republican Donald Trump. The president appeared pale, gave nonsensical answers, stared blankly and lost his train of thought.
The June 27 faceoff alarmed Democrats and his financial backers, in part, because Biden seemed so much worse than during the almost routine moments when he’s less sharp. And that has raised questions about whether he’s up for a campaign that’s only going to get nastier and whether he can effectively govern for another four years if he wins.
Some voters in the US expressed doubts on Wednesday if Biden was the one to secure another term in office for the Democrats.
