The defense industry is investing in the avoidance of CO2. However Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) does not publish any figures on the level of investment. How can a 40-ton vehicle become climate-neutral? Which technology will be used? Battery-electric drives, hybrid drives, the hydrogen-powered fuel cell? What role will synthetic fuels, so-called e-fuels, play? How could the military produce its own fuel on the territory of NATO member states? After all, the German armed forces have to be climate-neutral by 2045, while the US army has to achieve this goal by 2050.
