STORYLINE:
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda in Beijing on Monday.
Xi held a welcome ceremony for the Polish president outside the Great Hall of the People on Monday afternoon before the two headed into a room for bilateral talks.
Xi described Duda as an old friend of the Chinese people as well as himself, and said that relations between the two countries have shown resilience. Xi said China is willing to continue its traditional friendship with Poland and promote the bilateral relationship to achieve better development and to inject more stability and certainty into the ‘chaotic international situation’.
Duda said Poland and China have built good diplomatic, political and interpersonal relations based on mutual respect over the past 75 years. He said Poland will play a role in strengthening China’s relations with the European Union, and extended an invitation for Xi to visit Poland next year.
Officials from both sides later signed agreements on bilateral trade and investment cooperation as well as exports of agricultural products.
