Tourists and residents in Rome were trying to keep cool as the temperature hit 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) on Friday.

People cooled themselves at Rome’s famous Trevi fountain.

Restaurants put out fans that sprayed a cooling mist onto people eating outdoors.
