4. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Lin Jian, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
“The G7 summit communique once again manipulates China-related topics, slanders and attacks China, hypes up again cliche that lacks factual and legal basis as well as having no morality, and is flooded with arrogance, prejudice and lies.”

6. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Lin Jian, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
“The G7 keeps on saying that it wants to maintain world peace, but insists on drawing lines based on ideologies and values, hypes up the false narrative of "democracy confronting authoritarianism," and uses "small circles" to provoke bloc confrontations, and adds fuel to the fire as well as shifting blames in regional conflicts. It sends warships and military aircraft to the Asia-Pacific region to create tension, takes turns to arm Taiwan, threatening peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. These wrong actions that undermine international order and endanger peace and security are being spurned by more and more international forces of justice.”

STORYLINE:
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday declined to comment on a joint communique about the Ukraine war.
Nearly 80 countries on Sunday called for the “territorial integrity” of Ukraine to be the basis for any peace agreement to end Russia’s two-year war, though some key developing nations at a Swiss conference did not join in.
The way forward for diplomacy remains unclear.
The joint communique capped a two-day conference marked by the absence of Russia, which was not invited.
The final document signed by 78 countries said the U.N. Charter and “respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty … can and will serve as a basis for achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine.”
“China’s position on the Ukraine issue is consistent and clear. China did not attend the peace summit this time, and will not comment on the joint communique of the meeting,” said Lin Jian, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, in response to the joint communique.
Lin also denounced the joint communique of the recent Group of Seven summit, saying that it was full of "prejudice and lies".
Lin also commented on an upcoming meeting between China and South Korea which will start Tuesday amid speculations that Russian President Vladimir Putin would visit North Korea around the same time.
