1. SOUNDBITE (English) Eddie Redmayne, actor:
"Gosh, I don’t know. Honestly. The thing that attracted me to ‘Cabaret’ and the emcee is that the character is one of, if not the most enigmatic character I’ve ever stumbled across. You know, he doesn’t exist almost on the page. His songs and numbers that weave the narrative of the story together, and that allows him so much freedom and getting to do it with Rebecca Frecknall, our amazing cast and bring this show that is fundamentally a Broadway show back here has been glorious."

2. SOUNDBITE (English) Daniel Radcliffe, actor:
"I mean, it’s amazing. I’m always going to be incredibly happy to be known for Harry Potter and to have that association. But it’s also lovely to have, you know, done a few shows on Broadway now and have success there. And yeah, and I feel like I’ve come away from Broadway like a better actor every time that I’ve worked here. And stage in general, every time I do it, I feel like I learn a lot."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Idina Menzel, actor/recording artist:
"Yes. I have like 20 shows in 30 days, and I’m excited about that. I get to reconnect with my audience — I haven’t been on tour in quite some time. And then we’re going to bring in my new show, ‘Redwood,’ which I conceived that with Tina Landau over a decade ago. And it’s my passion project. So, to see it come to fruition and to share it with you, is very moving for me."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Liev Schreiber, actor/director:
"I think it’s just a good time. I think when this play came out 20 years ago, it was a good time. And I think it’s a good time now. I think it’s a good time for a different reason. I think the polarization that I think has kind of taking over our political system and our culture, it just couldn’t be a better time for a play that reminds us that doubt is actually a unifying concept. So I’m just super grateful to, (John Patrick) Shanley for including me."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Heather A. Hitchens, President and CEO of the American Theatre Wing:
"We came back strong, we came back stronger, and now we’re really back. I feel like this year it feels like we’re really back in so many ways. So it’s just, it’s so important because theater, you know, makes — everything theater touches it makes better. And we know what it did to our economy. But we also missed it because it’s the only thing that’s left where we all go, come from different walks of life, go into one theater, get in somebody’s shoes and take a journey together for an hour. And that’s just something that we need. So I’m very excited."
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Julianne Hough, actor/dancer:
"Yes, that’s right. We were Radio City. We were in the Heights and then now here in Lincoln Center. So yeah."
(Reporter: "As somebody that’s out there, does the theater and the vibe affect you?")
Hough: "It absolutely changes the vibe and the energy. But all three have been amazing, just different. So yeah, I mean, I really enjoyed the first year I did it because I got to do a really big opening performance, so that was really cool. But yeah, this year is going to be great too."
