“We were in Rafah, in the Muwasi (Camp) of Rafah, at the entrance of the port. We had wanted to leave there for a long time, but my uncle refused and said that there is no other place, there is no water, there is no food, and there are no markets there. Where should we go? To Khan Younis? We cannot afford transportation. They are asking for 1,200 shekels. How will we pay the money? We can barely provide food for our children. This night, my uncle said that we would go out. The (Israeli) helicopters started making animal noises, children’s voices, and strange things, and they started terrifying our children. The children became afraid and asked us to leave because they could not sleep at night or during the day. They (Israeli army) started firing missiles and carrying out intense bombardment in Rafah, so we were forced to leave.”

“After we moved here (Khan Younis), this is not a (suitable) life. We sit on the sand and in the streets. We sleep in the streets. Where will we go? There is no suitable place. There is no food and there is no drinking water. You see, we live on cans of beans and cans of peas. Also, our husbands do not work. Where will we get the money? We can barely get milk for our son.”

“What worries me is the children who are with me. I don’t care about myself. Life is over for me. These are the children. Where do we take them? What do we do with them? What is their future? What will their lives be like? No education, no study, what more can we say? I do not blame the Jews in this matter, I blame the Arabs and Muslims, who say about themselves that they are Arabs and Muslims.”

“We live on canned food, and we face different diseases every day. Diarrhea and different diseases appear to us every day. There is no health (services). Our children have lost weight. There is no nutrition, there is no education, there is nothing. As you can see, to get water we must walk. 3-4 km to get water, meaning our time is wasted trying to get water and begging for food, this is our life.”
