STORYLINE:
David Cronenberg premiered his new film, “The Shrouds,” at the Cannes Film Festival on Monday.
Starring Diane Kruger and Vincent Cassel, the film follows a 50-year-old successful businessman named Karsh. According to the film’s logline, “Inconsolable after the death of his wife, he invents GraveTech: a revolutionary and controversial system that lets the living connect with departed loved ones inside their shrouds. One night, multiple graves are desecrated, including his wife’s. Karsh sets out to track down the perpetrators.”
Cronenberg began writing this film in tribute to his wife, who passed away seven years ago. His last film, “Crimes of the Future,” was presented at the 2022 competition and he won the special Jury Prize for “Crash” in 1996.
