11. SOUNDBITE (English) Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine:
"I believe that Pope Francis will be able to help us even more. He loved Ukraine very much, that I know personally. What he wanted to do, it’s in his possibilities, spiritual, moral, and also trying to be… It would be too big word, mediator, but open to become mediator, if God allowed such initiative. We see that he didn’t manage to finish this initiative of helping Ukraine and building peace and justice, but he is continuing to pray for us."

13. SOUNDBITE (English) Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine:
"I think that Pope Francis was a kind of person who thought especially about people, about God, not politics, but people. So in this sense our task and my task is try to translate this spiritual message into concrete deeds. So in this sense, I think that… we need to continue and to explain what his words mean. Now I don’t think it will be easy, also because what situation we have in the world. I have even doubts if we still have international law. So we even more, have a need of such moral authority. Moral authority not because he is pope, but… him, him, and other moral authorities who have principles of life, not economical, militarily purposes, but human principles. And one of the most important human principles is peace, respect, and justice."

16. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Hanna Mykhailychenko, Kyiv resident:
"I remembered one of the quotes that I had the opportunity to come across. Pope Francis said ‘who am I to judge’. He said this on different occasions, in very different situations, but he repeated it. I think that is how the Lord teaches us today, perhaps contemplating what Pope Francis was like, a man who had a big heart. Let us pray today that the soul may be accepted into the Kingdom of Heaven to the most holy father."
17. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Hanna Mykhailychenko, Kyiv resident:
"I think that God knows, he knows everything in advance, our task is to pray. Everything will be fine, the best is ahead. As one priest said, ‘the best is ahead, the Kingdom of Heaven awaits us all,’ we will meet with everyone. I want to say to Pope Francis, "See you in the Kingdom of God.""

STORYLINE:
Ukrainian faithfuls gathered on Thursday at the Roman Catholic Parish of Saint Alexanders in Kyiv to pray for late Pope Francis.
Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine, Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, led the requiem mass, mourning the loss of a pontiff known for his humanitarian work and care for Ukraine.
Francis loved Ukraine and wasn’t able to see through his initiative of building peace and justice to its full extent, said Kulbokas.
"He is continuing to pray for us", he added.
Kulbokas stressed that he will continue the pontiff’s legacy by focusing on Ukrainian people and their everyday struggles.
