8. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Andre Thabet, Catholic worshipper:
“It is not a coincidence that it happened that Pope Francis passed away on (around the time of) Easter Sunday, it was as if he ascended with Christ on the day of resurrection, he too rose. Pope Francis embodied the values of peace, love and coexistence throughout the world. So, it was not just the Christian countries or regions that mourned him, the entire world grieved his passing away.”

STORYLINE:
A score of Catholic worshippers in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates mourned Pope Francis on Monday hours after his death.

Worshippers at the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic church remembered Pope Francis’ values and his efforts to bring peace to the world, lighting candles at the entrance of the church in the Jebel Ali area of Dubai.

Pope Francis was history’s first Latin American pontiff who charmed the world with his humble style and concern for the poor but alienated conservatives with critiques of capitalism and climate change. He died on Monday aged 88.

He made his last public appearance on Easter Sunday – a day before his death – to bless thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square, drawing wild cheers and applause.
