STORYLINE:
In the heart of one of the largest informal settlements in Venezuela, Catholics re-enacted the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, a theatrical performance which has become a tradition in the neighborhood.
Every year, devotees prepare to recreate the passion of Christ during the Good Friday celebrations.
Scores of spectators watched as actors walked through the Petare favela, drenched in fake blood.
Holy Week commemorates the last week of Jesus Christ’s earthly life, which culminated with his crucifixion on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
