"I spend time with cats because I feel good, I feel very relaxed when I am with them. I have observed that when you’re upset or feeling down, the cats will come near you, surround you as if they can sense that you’re not feeling well. And instantly, in those moments, I forget everything and start playing with them."

8. SOUNDBITE (Urdu) Aksa Khan, cat owner:
"Mostly I have observed that the cats become aggressive when you intervene in their fight, particularly between two male cats. Only in that situation will they attack you. Apart from that, the cats don’t attack."

11. SOUNDBITE (English) Dr Muhammad Salim Khan, head of community medicine SMHS:
"It used to be less than one or two percent (of cat bites) half a decade back, now it’s almost 50 percent of all cases coming to our anti-rabies clinic. So there is a huge rise. We believe that it’s around five to six thousand cat bite cases or cat scratch cases, coming to our hospital every year."

"The consultations have increased because of the awareness of the people. The people are tech savvy, they are very much well informed about the diseases and about the pet care especially, so I think our central veterinary hospital is equipped, is equipped in a way that they feel there’s a confidence in the hospital that they come over here."

"(My cat had not ) been feeling well for the last few days. For the last few days, she hasn’t been eating properly and has been vomiting frequently. There was a lot of stress at home because of her illness, there was tension. I brought her here for a consultation, and all praise to Almighty, the treatment is complete, and she is feeling better and I hope she will recover. I love her a lot."
