STORYLINE:
The Rio de Janeiro Aquarium celebrated the Easter holiday this Thursday in a very special way, with animals and visitors.
A group of divers submerged in the aquarium’s fish tank, wearing bunny ears, to offer the animals Easter eggs specially prepared for them.
AquaRio took the opportunity to recommend which fish should be avoided for consumption at this time of year.
"At Easter, due to the tradition of substituting red meat, the consumption of fish increases," said a statement from the aquarium on social networks.
"Some species that are threatened and endangered have an essential role in the balance of the oceans. That is why it is essential to know which fish should not be consumed to make a conscious choice and help the conservation of marine life,” it added.
The spotted sorubim, black grouper, and dusky grouper are among the endangered species protected by Brazilian law that can be seen swimming in Rio de Janeiro’s aquarium.
