2. SOUINDBITE (Arabic) Muhamed Hardan, resident from the village of Araba:
"We were working here. At around 7:30 a.m., we were on site when suddenly 20 to 30 Israeli military vehicles arrived and surrounded the entire area, blocking all traffic. There was also a drone and an Apache helicopter hovering over the whole area. They encircled the area where the mountain is cut and began firing toward an unknown location on the ground. They were firing on the ground, not into the air. It seemed like they were targeting a room or a container underground, or something else. We don’t know. But now it appears they may have pulled a container out from beneath the ground."

STORYLINE:
Israel’s military carried out raids in the West Bank on Wednesday, saying it killed at least two Palestinian militants in the village of Misilyah.
The military said its forces went to arrest Mohammed Zakarneh, who it claims had taken part in a Jan. 6 shooting attack on a bus in the West Bank that killed three people.
It said its forces surrounded a cave where Zakarneh was hiding out and traded fire with him and two other militants.
According to the army, both Zakarneh and Marouh Khazmiyeh were killed.
The military said Khazmiyeh was released from Gaza during the November 2023 hostage deal.
No militant groups immediately claimed that those killed were their members.
Muhamed Hardan, a man who was working in the area when the operation took place, said "we were on site when suddenly 20 to 30 Israeli military vehicles arrived and surrounded the entire area, blocking all traffic."
He added that there was "also a drone and an Apache helicopter hovering over the whole area" and that "it seemed like they were targeting a room or a container underground, or something else."
Following that operation, an excavator was seen digging dirt in the village as Israeli army soldiers and vehicles patrolled the area.
There has been a surge of violence in the West Bank, with the Israeli military carrying out widescale military operations that have killed hundreds of Palestinians and displaced over 40,000 people from their homes, in the largest displacement in the territory since the 1967 Mideast war.
There has been a rise in settler violence as well as Palestinian attacks on Israelis.
