US Vice President JD Vance is in India, where he’s been meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Delhi is hoping to agree a trade deal to avoid US tariffs on Indian goods. The two nations have described ties as ‘the defining partnership of the 21st century’. But Donald Trump’s trade war is threatening to cast a shadow over relations. Both sides said the talks made significant progress.
