STORYLINE:
Chinese President Xi Jinping hailed Sino-Malaysian relations while on an official visit to Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
Speaking at a bilateral meeting in the Malaysian capital, Xi said that relations between the two countries are "entering a new golden age."
"The long history of friendship between China and Malaysia is nurturing, growing in cultural integration, and being sublimated in the midst of mutual benefit and mutual benefits," he said.
Malaysia is home to several Belt and Road Initiative projects, including a $11.2 billion Chinese railway project. China is also its largest trading partner and a top source of foreign direct investment.
"Joint efforts will continue to promote the development of the common destiny of China and Malaysia in a high-level and strategic direction," Xi said.
