"There are initiatives ongoing. And I think that you are particularly now referring to what the French and Brits are working on through the Coalition of the Willing, and we are also very much are part of those talks and trying to advice whenever we can these discussions in the right direction and I’m very happy that the French and the Brits do this initiative to make sure that as a first line of defense you have Ukraine armed forces, post a peace deal and a ceasefire, that might be more necessary to make sure that Putin will never, ever, ever try this again."

STORYLINE:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday positively evaluated the course of negotiations with the U.S. on minerals deal.

During a news conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Odesa, Zelenskyy said that once talks and consultations are done, he will share more details.

Zelenskyy also criticized U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff’s statement that the peace deal between Russia and Ukraine could include resolving the "so-called five territories".

He stressed that for Ukraine any similar discussion are "red lines", rejecting any attempt "to recognize any temporarily occupied territories not as Ukrainian, but as Russian."

Mark Rutte, who arrived on an official visit to Odesa on Tuesday, expressed NATO’s support for Ukraine during the news conference.

Referring to the initiative by France and Britain to discuss the military contingent in Ukraine, Rutte said NATO is "very much part of those talks and trying to advice whenever we can these discussions in the right direction".
