Russian-Born Dancer Freed in Prisoner Exchange

Dancer Ksenia Karelina was freed from a Russian prison colony as part of an exchange between the U.S. and Russia. Karelina, who was born in Russia, was detained there in 2024 over a $50 donation she had made to a US-based Ukraine charity. In return, the US freed a dual Russian-German citizen who was accused of illegally exporting military grade electronics. The swap took place at the Abu Dhabi airport in the United Arab Emirates.
