STORYLINE:
Heavy rain continued to fall across Tennessee throughout Saturday, increasing the risk of flooding. Residents of Dyersburg, a small town in the northwest of the state, received a third tornado warning in the afternoon.
Dozens of people arrived at a storm shelter near a public school, some soaking wet from the rain, with blankets, pillows and folding chairs.
Denise Morgan said she got the warning while watching the news. "There have been so many tornadoes recently. It’s scary, the devastation[…]. So I had to pick up my mum and my two sisters to come here."
Dyersburg was hit by a tornado on Wednesday, causing $2 million in damage, according to Mayor John Holden.
No damage or injuries had been reported on Saturday. But Mayor Holden said he expected flooding in some areas in the next 24 hours.
"We have been out to businesses, we have been contacting people. We will assist people if they need help to get out. So we are all hands on decks just waiting to respond when the event occurs," Mayor Holden said.
