2. SOUNDBITE (English) Monster Chetwynd, artist:
“You’re going to hear beautiful, romantic music. You’re going to see a twinkly, glittery, colourful set. And I would say, you’re going to be excited by scale, because the sculptures are three metres or so big. So I’m using different materials, different beautiful fabrics, different tricks and ways to excite the audience.”

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Tina Kim, gallerist representing late Philippine artist Pacita Abad:
“This particular installation is similar to the installation she had at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. And I think for her, Pacita Abad’s work was really to talk to a wider audience. It was not only for those museum goers. She wanted to talk to people. She wanted to really tell everyone, and celebrate Asian diaspora, Asian culture. So to show it in this monumental scale was exactly how she would have liked it.”

“We are two women business owners, and we have a specialty with women artists, women artists that were overlooked for a long time in the canon of art history. We’re bringing these women artists here because there’s a market here in Asia for what is sort of hot on the market. Women artists are being collected finally, and I think the collectors here in Asia are the first to understand this.”

12. Various of solo exhibition “Ew! There is hair in the food!!”, pencil on paper by South Korean artist Shin Min
13. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelle Siyang-Le, Director, Art Basel Hong Kong:
“Hong Kong and mainland China remain the highest attendance group. Mainland China in particular, they’re very excited to really come to Hong Kong, first of all, it’s very close for them to kind of just cross the border to come to Hong Kong. And secondly, they also use our platform as an annual reunion between them and their international art lovers, friends. So I think for the mainland Chinese high net-worth collectors, they have very much been treated as the most kind of prestigious Asian collectors at our shows. And people do very much look forward to connect once again with the mainland Chinese collectors.”
